Aim

This course has been designed to meet the requirements of the STCW 95 Section A – VI / 5 as amended in 20101, the ISPS Code sections A/2.1.6, A/12.1 and A/12.2 and the guidelines of IMO Model Course 3.19 for the person to be designated to perform the duties and responsibilities of a Ship Security Officer.

Scope & Objective

Those who successfully complete this course should be able to undertake the duties and responsibilities as Ship Security Officer, as defined in STCW 95 Section A - VI/5.On completion of the Training a Ship security officer should have adequate knowledge of English to correctly interpret and communicate message relevant to ship and port facility. Also the training should be relevant to the provision of the ISPS code and SOLAS convention as amended.

Entry Standards

The candidate have approved seagoing service of not less than 12 Months or appropriate Seagoing service or knowledge of Ship operation.

Medical Standard

As per M.S (Medical Examination for seafarers) Rules 2000 as amended from time to time.

Course Certificate

The Candidate after successful completion of the course and demonstration of competence under section A-VI/5 shall be issued certificate of Proficiency as Ship Security officer.

Intake

Not Above 20 per class

Required Attendance

100% attendance is required for successful completion of the Course. However, in exceptional circumstances the relaxation can be given for genuine reasons

Exam

A test will be conducted on completion of the Course

Certificate

After Successfully completion and Passing of Exam A certificate will be issued to the Student certifying that he has successfully completed the Course.
