Aim

This course is designed to meet the requirements of basic training in the use of Electronic Chart Display and Information System (ECDIS), aimed at captains and deck officers in charge of the navigational watch, on the basis of the Regulations II/1,II/2 and II/3, Sections A-II/1, A-II/2 and A-II/3 Tables A-II/1, A-II/2 and A-II/3 of the International Convention on Standards of Training Certification and Watch keeping of Seafarers STCW 1978, as amended (Convention STCW´78, as amended) and the STCW Code.

Scope & Objective

Demonstrate the ability to effectively participate to the knowledge, understanding and proficiencies established on corresponding to Regulations II/1,II/2 and II/3, Sections A-II/1, A-II/2 and A-II/3 Tables A-II/1, A-II/2 and A-II/3 of the STCW 1978 Convention, as amended and its STCW Code.

Entry Standards

• As a minimum, to be a candidate for an officer position or hold competency certificates navigation watch.
• It is required that prior to enrollment for this course, the participant has previously completed and satisfactorily passed the course on tracing and use of radar navigation.

Medical Standard

As per M.S (Medical Examination for seafarers) Rules 2000 as amended from time to time.

Course Certificate

Upon successful completion of the course, the participant must receive a course completion document for "Operational Use of Electronic Chart Display and Information System (ECDIS)”,in accordance with the Regulations II/1,II/2 and II/3, Sections A-II/1, A-II/2 and A-II/3 Tables A-II/1, A-II/2 and A-II/3 of the STCW 1978 Convention, as amended and the STCW Code

Required Attendance

100% attendance is required for successful completion of the Course. However, in exceptional circumstances the relaxation can be given for genuine reasons

Exam

A test will be conducted on completion of the Course

Certificate

After Successfully completion and Passing of Exam A certificate will be issued to the Student certifying that he has successfully completed the Course.
