Aim
This course aims to provide the training for candidates in accordance with Part A of the STCW Code in the standard of training ,certification and Watch keeping for seafarers Conventions as amended in 2010 and to achieve those standards set out in Section A-III/1,A-VIII/2 and B-VIII/2
Scope & Objective
The trainee will get competent to :
Familiarization with the use of instrumentation and controls used in the engine rooms of modern merchant ships.
Awareness of the need for proper pre-planning, the use of check lists.
Understanding and awareness of correct watchkeeping procedures.
Understanding of the way in which machinery units are independent.
Experience in identifying operational problems and trouble shooting

Entry Standards
Entry to the course is open to students with basic background and knowledge and to marine engineers who wish to improve their knowledge and understanding of the operation and control of the machinery installation of a modern merchant ship.
Medical Standard
As per M.S (Medical Examination for seafarers) Rules 2000 as amended from time to time.
Course Certificate
On successful completion of the course & demonstration of competence, a certificate will be issued certifying that the holder has met the standard of competence specified in Section A –VIII/2 and B-VIII/2 of STCW 2010.
Intake
Not Above 20 per class
Required Attendance
100% attendance is required for successful completion of the Course. However, in exceptional circumstances the relaxation can be given for genuine reasons

70 % or Above

Exam
A test will be conducted on completion of the Course
Certificate
After Successfully completion and Passing of Exam A certificate will be issued to the Student certifying that he has successfully completed the Course.
